"So what, am I just supposed to sit here telling you to turn port or starboard?" Hoshi asks. "That's what the captain tells me to do."
"And I won't be able to shoot the missiles anymore? That's my favorite job!" Seren objects.
"You can always help me moving cargo around in the cargo bay," Cassiopeia offers, earning a couple glares for her trouble.
"Just think of it as a new voice interface," Mirri says, trying to calm everyone. "I'm sure we can make it work. It's not like I micromanage your exact heading, Hoshi. And I haven't let you fire those missiles anyway in a long time, Seren. And I know you've been adding more to our stocks when you think I haven't noticed."
"My job is secure," Sashi says quietly.
"You're fine with being a pet of the ship ghost like that dog of yours, Sashi?" Seren asks.
"He completes me," Sashi says, closing her eyes and making a little smile with her hand over her heart. It's not much but it's the most emotion you've seen her show so far.
"We're losing our freedom!" Seren shoots back at the chief mechanic, but Sashi seems to be entirely caught up in whatever daydream she's having to notice.
"It sounds like Emanata is offering us a symbiotic relationship. Not to be its... pets," Mirri says, clearly trying to be diplomatic with her upset crew. "You will obey our orders, then...?"
While they're discussing this you check the time again and see that It was September 15th, 1177 NC when you first entered hyperspace, but you haven't been able to update your internal clock yet in the destination system. The cargo is due on Helen on October 1st.
