You're walking out to your mailbox when a truck swerves off the road to avoid hitting a cute little bunny, which had hopped out into the road and was doing that cute little thing they do with their noses. In suddenly jerking the wheel hard to the right, the driver loses control of the truck as it partially lifts off the ground and it barrels across your front lawn, hitting you in your driveway.
Everything goes black.
When you wake up, you find that you have been transformed into a sentient Starbridge Mod C, named S.S. Emanata, and you're being chased through the vastness of outer space by a pair of Pirate Valkyries. You realize with some embarrassment that you are completely naked, your hull plating uncovered by any supplemental armor to preserve your modesty, and your crew is made up of five very attractive women, all with identical faces, skin tones, body shapes, uniforms (standard issue United Shipping), and you can only differentiate between them by their wildly differing hair colors, hair styles, and eye colors. Luckily their eyes are four times as large as normal, and very expressive. Despite the ongoing pirate attack, your database is working fine so you can look up their personnel records to learn their names.
The stern-looking one is named Mirri. She seems to be in command of, well, you, and is barking orders at her subordinates from the center chair of your bridge. She's got shoulder-length, straight, dark blue hair, with bright yellow eyes that seem to be flickering like flames from the lower half of her irises, which doesn’t seem particularly healthy.
To her right is Sashi, with long silver hair, twin tails (one draped in front of her shoulder), and long bangs, longer on one side to cover about a third of her face. Her eyes are heterochromatic, giving them the appearance of two waning crescents made of silver and black. Her record lists her as chief mechanic and ranking first officer. She seems tranquil amidst the shouting and danger.
To the left of those two is Cassiopeia, loadmaster. Her bright pink hair is wild with long flowing curls in every direction, seeming to defy your artificial gravity generators in a few places. Her eyes are a light green with nothing particularly strange about them, and she is bent over a control panel to her left, monitoring the situation to see if any cargo is shifting and becoming unbalanced or damaged in the cargo bay.
In front of them are two stations with large control panels. Stationed at your helm, on the left is Hoshi, with brown hair in a very round and short bob haircut, as round as her huge, panic-filled bright purple eyes. Next to her is Seren, at the tactical station, wearing her light blond hair up in a tidy double bun, matched by two fierce red eyes. She has a grim, determined look.
Hoshi announces loudly that the helm is no longer responding to her control inputs. It’s as if their ship has suddenly got a mind of its own. Seren confirms this, the controls no longer work. It’s all just funny-feeling electrical impulses to you, but you have no idea what your crew is trying to make you do, and you, the Emanata, have free will.
What do you do?
I will attempt to respond to this thread fairly quickly and keep this going as narrator/gamemaster to your roleplaying adventure so many people can participate and not wait too long between getting a chance to decide courses of action. However I will only use the first reply to my latest post as roleplay/gameplay and ignore subsequent posts unless they are minor additions to what the previous person has already decided to do, and could be fit in as brief additional actions, or things like database queries, system scans, etc. A ship can multitask but you can't fly across the whole galaxy in one post. Keep actions fairly immediate. Please keep discussion about the game to a minimum in this thread. Feel free to use the Discord for any out-of-character interactions, discussions, strategizing, and questions. Roleplay/gameplay that is against the spirit of the game, overly weird, or otherwise hurting the fun for myself and the other participants may have unexpected in-game results, including the forfeiture of that round of action. I reserve the right to interpret any post by players however I please, but I intend to keep things pretty silly and fun since this is a somewhat absurd situation you have found yourself in. This will be a pretty freeform roleplay not a hardcore number-cruncher, but gameplay will have to be pretty reasonable and appropriate to work. You may use any personal real-world knowledge you have to help you make decisions, but don't assume you know anything about the world this game is taking place in. Metaknowledge about EV Nova will only help you to an extent. At the start of this you know that you're the Emanata, you know what I've told you, and that's about it so far. EV Nova gameplay is more-or-less going to be the baseline in-world knowledge you can use. You have a Mod C's weapons and more-or-less the ship performance. You can fly around, land on planets, go to hyperspace, etc. But you're brand new to this world and it's not going to be exactly like a game of EV Nova, especially since you're not even a human anymore. You can't visit bars and make decisions for your crew. There may be more unexpected elements ahead of you than just the fact that you're somehow magically transported to this other universe/dimension/whatever and are a sentient spaceship now. Don't be afraid to consult your database (me) as an action or part of your action if you have questions, or you can talk to your crew (me again) through the ship's intercom. But at least right now it seems like there's a bit of a crisis and right now you should probably be most concerned about survival.
