Hello Everybody,
my name is Andrew and I’ve been a big fan of the Escape Velocity games since playing the original on my dad’s Mac in the 90s.
When Cosmic Frontier was announced, I became hooked again and began working on a plug-in-project for ev:nova I had a few ideas spinning around in my head for quite some time even before that. As I always liked the story, that was told in the preambles of nova, I wanted to set the scenario shortly before and during the fall of the Colonial Council, focusing on the consequences, a galactic conflict and the loss of the hypergate-system would have had on the smaller frontier worlds.
After a lot of progress, especially in the form of asset creation, I’ve recently hit a dead end. Working full time and having a family is not helpful, when attempting something of that scale and I can’t see myself continuing with the project (at least not in the foreseeable future) as I am somewhat exhausted.
I do not want to let the project die however and want to ask if there is interest in the community to continue where I left off or use my assets for your own plug-in-ideas.
I’ve built everything in Sketchup 2017 and did some testing, using the twilight render plug-in. In total I created 54 spaceship models, 9 space stations, 27 weapon models and a few equipment graphics (IR Jammer and the like). A few are recreations of vanilla ships/ stations but most are new. I also created four models for use in landing graphics although I am not happy with those. I tried to capture the feeling of the originals while also combining them with my own ideas.
I don't seem to be able to attach images here but I have also posted this on discord with a few examples!
